Lawn Bowls Christmas, Presentation Lunch

December 12^th was our last game of Lawn Bowls for the Year, and twenty-two bowlers joined in a fun day. We started with a “spider”, where all bowlers bowl two bowls into the middle of the rink, from the periphery and the lucky bowlers whose bowl ends up closest to markers, won cash prizes. The lucky bowlers were Graham Hosking, Les Coventry, Sandra Brammall, Roger Brammall and Keith Saines.

We then played “scroungers”, with Jan Wallace playing her first bowls ever. The rink winners were Toni Hosking, Julie Coventry drew with Keith Saines but progressed on a roll of a bowl, Les Coventry (as an aside Jan scored 10 points over the last 5 ends), Steve Halverson, Roger Brammall (after a great battle with Vicki Halverson) and Sandra Brammall.

In the semi final Roger beat Sandra and Steve, while Toni and Les drew while beating Julie. This time Toni won the roll of the bowl.

The final was won by Roger Brammall over Toni Hosking.

We then went into the club for our lunch and Presentation, where prizes were not only given for the scroungers on the day (Roger and Toni) but also for the Scroungers game in June when Vicki Halverson beat Julie Coventry.

Prizes were then given for the top 5 consistent bowlers for the year, where Lindsay McNammara beat Julie Coventry by the smallest of margins. Then came Ralph Olsen, Stuart Speight and Les Coventry. For the best performing bowlers (who had played at least four games), the winner was Geoff Barwick, from Julie Coventry, Mike Pass, Vicki Halverson and John Kent.

We then had the usual lucky (random) prizes of wine and Christmas items.
