We will meet at 10am at the car park between the beach and the Avoca Beach Theatre.  The walk will be approximately 3.5 kms of fairly flat walking around the streets and foreshore of Avoca.  Following the walk, we can have lunch at Avoca Beach Seafoods or The Point Cafe.  Both of these cafes face the beach and if the weather is good, it is a lovely place to view the beach while enjoying our lunch.

Please ensure you bring a hat and sunscreen for what we hope will be a beautiful day.

The Edogawa Commemorative Garden is a beautiful peaceful space located in the Gosford Regional Gallery precinct.  Gosford formed a Sister City Agreement with Edogawa, Japan in 1988. A gift from Edogawa, the Garden was officially opened in September 1994 and has been designed in accordance with the original principles of the Japanese Heian period (700AD).

Extending over 4,000 square metres, the garden is based on a traditional ‘shuyu’ (strolling style) garden, incorporating Japanese features. With meandering pathways, a roofed Japanese pavilion overlooking the Koi pond, raked dry stone garden and traditional Japanese teahouse, the garden offers a tranquil setting in which to relax and enjoy art and nature.

Plenty of photographic opportunities.

Lunch either at the cafe or one of the local restaurants. (group choice).

New members are always welcome

Aug 8, 2025 19:30 PM
- Aug 8, 2025 22:00 PM

We welcome back the Sydney Symphony Orchestra for one night only, performing beautiful music by two of the great Romantic composers: Dvořák and Richard Strauss. This concert shines a spotlight on the world-class woodwind section of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and the extraordinary range of tones, colours and textures they are capable of.

Richard Strauss wrote two early masterpieces for wind instruments, his Wind Serenade and his Suite for Wind Instruments. Expect colour and contrast and lots of fun in the characterful music that packs a vibrant punch.    Antonín Dvořák’s Wind Serenade builds over four gorgeous movements, from lyrical to lively and rhythmic. Infused with the folk music of his native Bohemia, this music has a rustic feel that’s tremendously charming.

Don’t miss this wildly entertaining night with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra’s woodwind musicians.

Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike

by Christopher Durang

directed by Terry Collins

It’s present day in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, and Sonia is angry with her older brother Vanya. She always prepares his coffee for him, but today he got it himself. It becomes clear very soon that this is a typical squabble between siblings, who are both unmarried, in their 50s, and are still living together in the house where they grew up.

While Vanya and Sonia are chatting, their housekeeper, Cassandra, walks in and makes one of her predictions—a regular occurrence that Vanya and Sonia are accustomed to. This time she predicts they will lose the house, which causes Sonia to suddenly remember that their somewhat famous sister Masha (who actually owns the house) is coming to visit.

Masha, who is also in her 50s, bursts in and says how happy she is to see her siblings and the house. On her heels is her “beloved,” 29-year-old Spike.

Welcome to the insane world of Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike!

Christopher Durang is known for his outrageous comedies that, underneath the absurdity, have profound searches for optimism and connection with others. The story told by the endearingly eccentric characters in this play show us why Durang is a member of the American Theater Hall of Fame..

Bookings and Payments close 8th July
