Itinerary:
Day 1: (LD) HOME TO ORANGE Friday 27 June, 2025
Welcome to our 3 day tour to Orange. We meet our friendly coach captain and fellow travellers as we begin our journey. We express to Bathurst and then on towards Orange. Lunch is in Milthorpe at the Millthorpe Golden Memories Museum. Millthorpe was known as Spring Grove until 1884 and still retains all of its charm of yesteryear. The museum has fascinating history of pioneering days, gold discovery and mining displays and a huge collection of farm machinery. The Good Templars Hall houses many treasures – Victorian and Edwardian pieces as well as a pistol and fossicking pick belonging to John Lister. We are met by a local expert, who will showcase the town on a guided tour, with stops along the way to get the most out of our tour. From here we continue to the small village of Lucknow which had a ‘gold strike’ shortly after the Ophir find of 1851. Unlike Ophir however, Lucknow’s gold rush continued for over 100 years. Today we can still see remains of the Wentworth Gold Mine workings with extensive above ground buildings from the mining era. The Orange City Council have purchased the Wentworth mine site and it opens occasionally for open days. We then divert off the highway to pass through the historic township of Spring Hill with its circa 1874 Methodist Church, Temperance Hall (circa 1883) and the Whistle Stop Tavern built in 1911. Next stop. After a wonderful first day, we check into our motel – our base for the next 2 nights.

Day 2: (BLD) ORANGE Saturday 28 June, 2025
This morning a local guide will join us on the coach as we explore the city of Orange. Included is a visit to Cook Park. In 1873 the site was proclaimed as a park and in 1882 it was officially named in honour of Captain James Cook with much of the garden design still in place. Within the park lies the Cook Park Guildry – a hidden gem. The building was erected and named in honour of two former Parks and Gardens Supervisors who, between father and son, gave 90 years of service to Orange. Heritage importance aside, the building is now the home of some of the most delicious home-made treats who also sells local jewellery and gifts. Also on our itinerary is a visit to the Orange Regional Gallery, featuring a broad spectrum of Australian Art. Now for our special Xmas in Winter Lunch! We have a 1pm booking at the Orange Ex Services Club. There will be a special Xmas Menu – Xmas Turkey, pavlova and decorations, along with entertainment – it will be a fun afternoon.

Day 3: (BL) ORANGE TO HOME Sunday 29 June, 2025
Our first appointment today is at Hillside Harvest. This 75 acre property proudly yields many varieties of fruit and is passionate about food, on arrival we enjoy a walk through the orchard followed by a lovely morning tea. On our way home we stop in Lithgow for lunch before a visit to Eskbank House. Built in 1842, this home has been at the heart of Lithgow’s history and was opened as one of the first house museums in NSW in 1966. Our guide will explain its colourful place as part of the town’s history. We continue home, arriving late afternoon from a fantastic tour to Orange.
